Karnten Cottage: Your Window into the Wild Heart of the Dales

Welcome to Karnten Cottage — your peaceful escape in Askrigg at the heart of Herriot Country. This cosy two-bedroom Yorkshire Dales retreat is perfect for walkers, couples, small families – and your four-legged friends too.

Set in the storybook village of Askrigg, our quietly stylish holiday home is made for those who long for windswept views, rambling walks, and the kind of peace that can only be found in the hills.

From the moment you step through the door, there’s a sense that this place was made for slowing down. Mornings stretch gently into long afternoons, with coffee in hand and the sound of nothing but the breeze through stone walls and the occasional sheep in the lane. The sun rises over drystone fields and sets behind violet hills — and you’ve got the perfect spot to watch it all unfold.

Inside, every detail has been thought of — from soft throws and a flickering fire to the practical comforts that make muddy boots and muddy paws feel right at home. The cottage sleeps four, welcomes dogs, and offers EV charging for your onward journeys — though you may not want to leave at all.

This dog-friendly holiday let in Askrigg is the kind of place guests return to, season after season — not because it’s flashy, but because it’s just right. Warm, easy, and gently tucked into the rhythm of the Dales.

To discover more about what’s nearby, visit our Dales Blog — packed with walks, local gems, and ideas for your stay.

Don’t miss nearby Aysgarth Falls — one of the most stunning spots in the Dales, just a short drive from the cottage.

It’s not just a holiday — it’s a Karnten Cottage experience. A little bit of magic, waiting in the hills.
