Askrigg Village Pub – Stories from The Crown Inn
If you visit just one Askrigg village pub while you’re here, make it The Crown. It’s not the biggest, or the poshest. But that’s precisely the point.
This is the kind of place where locals drop in without a fuss, muddy boots are welcome, and a pint feels like a conversation. The old bar has a bit of a lean to it, and there’s a certain timelessness that feels deeply Yorkshire – slightly no-nonsense, completely warm.
There are bigger places to eat nearby. But for a pint by the fire and a casual chat about sheep, potholes, and the state of the weather, The Crown is unmatched.
On market days, you’ll often hear stories older than the fireplace. On Sundays, the cakes appear. And if you’re lucky, a terrier might wander through and inspect your ankles.
